About the tour
A tour of southern Kyushu for those already familiar with Japan and ready to discover its hidden treasures. Over five days, you will stand at the foot of an active volcano, enjoy therapeutic hot sand baths, delve into samurai history, and conclude your journey on the mystical island of Yakushima — a UNESCO World Heritage site that inspired the creators of Princess Mononoke.
Program
Arrival in Kagoshima and transfer to the mountain district of Kirishima. You will visit Kirishima Jingu Shrine — an ancient sanctuary in the mountain mist, where, according to legend, the gods first set foot on the land of Japan. Equally impressive is the Open-Air Museum of Contemporary Art, where sculptures blend harmoniously into the mountain landscape. An overnight stay at a traditional ryokan lets you experience the atmosphere of Japanese hospitality from the very first evening.
